It will be hard to know what a property sold for unless you can get the information from a Realtor. In our area, the MLS will show the actual sale price on every property sold using a Realtor. If it was sold without the help of a Realtor, then the information is hard to find. It may be possible to find out at the county records office. Some counties in Missouri have started requiring the actual sale price be disclosed, and they post it online in the tax record for the property. This is the exception, however, and most counties don't keep this kind of information. You also need to be careful with sites like Zillow. We purchased an investment property, and they showed we had purchased it for $10,000 more than the actual price.
